The New Wave

A$AP Rocky is one of the hottest artist on the scene right now and has a heavy playlist in my IPhone currently. He is part of A$AP Mob but is clearly the more popular and talented of the group fom New York. He is influenced by Wu-Tang and UGK which attributes to his down south style of rap.

He burst onto the rap scene with his street hit Pe$o which headlined his debut mixtape LiveLoveA$AP.A$AP Rocky's first release was a six-song EP titled Deep Purple. It presented Rocky as a fun Harlem kid with a slow flow. On Halloween 2011, he expanded his ever-evolving sound palette on his debut mixtape, LiveLoveA$AP.

The tape featured beats by Clams Casino and Ty Beats, as well as rhymes by ScHoolboy Q and Spaceghost Purrp. LiveLoveA$AP made several year-end lists and earned Rocky a BBC Sound of 2012 nomination. Rocky's stock rose even higher after Drake publicly praised him and added him to his Club Paradise tour.

His old school style is what makes him one of my favorite artist right now and  am looking forward to his heavily anticipated debut album LongLiveA$AP. Check out the pics and links below and add him to your musical selection.

Chief Keef

Chief Keef, a buzzing rapper from Chicago, is set to boil over into the mainstream hip-hop world very soon. Thanks to a gigantic co-sign from Kanye West, who last week announced he would follow-up the G.O.O.D. Music salvo “Mercy” with a remix to Keef’s “I Don’t Like” featuring Lil Reese, everybody wants to know the deal with this gun-obsessed, one-time house arrested, Lex Luger beat-riding teenager. His gritty videos and style of rap has made him a big name in the rap game lately.

He has not released a new project since his March release of the mixtape "Back From The Dead" but we are all looking forward to more music from Chief!!

The hot or not artist for today is Atlanta based rapper Trinidad James.

His apperance is surely not of this time with his wild afro and spaced out gold teeth but this eccentric artist has a unique sound that caught my eye. listen to his song "All Gold Everything" below and let me know what you guys think.

The Progressive Era of Rap

Today's artist goes by the name of Joey Bada$$

Joey Bada$$, is a Brooklyn rapper who, at the tender age of 17, is equipped with a startling, circa-94 flow-- a detail-rich and syllable-packed wonder that suggests years of listening to vintage MF DOOM, AZ, and Cormega. His style is heavily influenced by earlier MCs and his group the Progressive Era made up of his 20 odd friends and associates is a vintage blend of what Hip Hop has been missing.

His latest mixtape "1999" is a creative blend of old school raps that have given this 17 year old up and comer a strong buzz in the hip hop community. with features from the Progressive Era crew this mixtape is a must download.

Up and Running!

Good Morning all and welcome to my music blog, My name is Royce Williams and I play basketball at Weber State University. I am 21 years old with obsession with music of all kinds not just hip-hop or rap music.

I love hearing about different artist especially underground artist who have a strong buzz or loyal following. I also love debating with friends as well as followers about artist because being from Los Angeles I have a different taste in music than most of my friends.

I enjoy listening to Southern artist more than the main stream media artist and I do catch some heat for it but i stand by the music that I like. In my blog I will post about artist or songs that I listen to and see what others think about my taste in music.

I will have posts that ask if artist are quality artist or just wack no questions about it and keep a good variety of artist that I post not just mainstream artsit but up and comers as well.

For my first blog I can say I already enjoy the idea and will have alot of fun with this so why waste anytime? For my first post the first artist I want to show is Theophilus London an up and coming artist from New York City. Tell me what you think!
